In 2000, I graduated high school and moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State and pursue a BA in English. It took nearly 7 years for me to fall in love with Arizona, but what finally did it, was my first trip to the Grand Canyon. After a Rim-Rim-Rim trip, things all fell into place; Arizona is full of such wonderful wild spaces that I wanted to explore.
In 2005, I gave birth to a wonderful son, Alexander. To re-gain my pre-pregnancy size, I decided to sign up for a triathlon. I found a group of people to train with and participated in trialthations for 3 years, but ultimately I sought a more adventurous sport.
After researching Ultrarunning, I was hooked decided to sign up for the Javelina Jundred in 2008. I finished the Javelina Jundred as my first ultra, and since then, I've never looked back. I've raced around 30 ultras and have been quite successful in some races. However, what keeps me doing ultra is the pull of the mountains and the sense of adventure. I currently race for Team AdiUltra.
I also work at Arizona State University as in English Instructor. I'm also working on my PhD in Rhetoric and Composition.
